A simple method used to diagnose and treat ailments in pets.
Although many claim to be dog or cat whisperers, in reality, it is almost impossible for us to communicate audibly with our furry friends. They cannot tell us if they are feeling sick, unwell, or otherwise. For this reason, bloodwork and other diagnostics are crucial because they allow us to analyze your pet’s health, and see signs of illness that are not visible to the naked eye. To learn more about our bloodwork services, please call us at 780-475-9225.
Absolutely. For your furry friend, it will feel just like any other injection or vaccine that they receive. It only takes a matter of seconds to get the blood sample, which can be taken from multiple areas of your pet’s body such as their forearm or neck.
It really depends on a case-by-case basis and on the area that the blood is being taken from. Sometimes, we may shave a small patch of your pet’s fur to get a better look at the vein that we will be taking the sample from.
The veterinarian may request blood analysis as part of your pet’s regular exam and for a wide variety of reasons such as if they are experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, fever, odd behaviours and weight loss. By analyzing their blood, we can determine the cause of these symptoms so your pet can be properly diagnosed and treated. In healthy pets, having blood samples will provide us with a record for comparison in the future should any problems arise.
